Guidelines for the Prevention of Infections and for Medical Care The Robert Koch-Institute (RKI) is the central agency of the German federal government in the field of disease monitoring and prevention and the supervising institute for the public healthcare system. The core responsibilities of the Robert Koch-Institute today are to identify, prevent and fight diseases, especially infectious diseases, and to monitor and analyze the health situation in Germany. The recommendations of the RKI represent the current level of knowledge and expert opinion on a certain subject.
